Job Description: Teacher – Creative Arts & STEM Integration

Position: Creative Arts & STEM Teacher
Reports to: Head of Curriculum / Principal
Department: Arts & Humanities / STEM

Position Overview:
We are seeking an innovative and dynamic educator to support and facilitate a unique interdisciplinary curriculum that merges students’ talents to create and develop their own stories. The teacher will guide students in integrating these creative fields to enhance their writing, composition, and oral exam skills. This position aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills in learners while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and exploration through performance and concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Facilitation & Support:

    • Facilitate the integration of acting, music and STEM into storytelling, supporting students in using these elements to create and narrate their own stories.

    • Develop lesson plans that combine creative arts and STEM concepts to inspire storytelling and written expression.

    • Guide students through practical activities that blend music, performance, and STEM, helping them craft their stories and develop their ideas for composition and oral presentations.

  • Creative Exploration & Development:

    • Encourage students to use their imagination and critical thinking skills to experiment with different storytelling techniques, including drama, music composition, and scientific concepts.

    • Support students in transforming their ideas into stories by applying structured writing techniques and performance skills.

    • Introduce students to various artistic and STEM tools, technologies, and resources that can enhance their creative storytelling process.

  • Writing & Composition Support:

    • Lead students in structured writing exercises that draw from their acting and music experiences, enhancing their ability to compose compelling narratives.

    • Teach students how to refine their writing for clarity, structure, and engagement, using storytelling techniques derived from performance arts and STEM.

    • Provide feedback on student compositions, focusing on creativity, coherence, and narrative flow.

  • Oral Exam Preparation & Presentation:

    • Train students in effective oral communication skills, helping them practice and prepare for oral exams by presenting their written and performed stories.

    • Incorporate performance techniques into exam preparation, ensuring students can confidently express their ideas and demonstrate their knowledge in a dynamic, engaging way.

  • Assessment & Evaluation:

    • Design and implement assessments to evaluate students’ progress in writing, composition, and oral presentations, considering both artistic creativity and academic rigor.

    • Offer constructive feedback to help students grow in their skills and knowledge, supporting both individual and group projects.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with other teachers in the arts, STEM, and language departments to ensure a cohesive, interdisciplinary approach to learning.

    • Engage with students’ parents and guardians to provide updates on progress and celebrate student achievements.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts, STEM, Music, Drama, or a related field preferred. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in teaching or facilitating programs related to the arts, music, drama, or STEM, ideally in a school or youth program setting preferred.

    • Familiarity with curriculum development and interdisciplinary teaching strategies that incorporate creative arts and STEM.

  • Skills & Attributes:

    • Passionate about fostering creativity and innovation in young learners.

    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students of varying abilities.

    • Ability to use technology and multimedia tools to enhance student learning and creativity.

    • Flexible and adaptable teaching style, with the ability to meet the needs of diverse learners.

    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
